Migrations can be scheduled to take place at appropiate times and intervals to optimise backup windows and workflow scheduling.

The ARX supports policies that the data lifecyle over time. For example, an administrator may wish to choose to migrate data once a week that hasn't been accessed in the past 60 days to a lower cost storage tier, but if the data suddenly gets accessed more frequently, the ARX automatically migrates the data back onto high performance media.

The ARX series can also can facilitate disk based archiving solutions (e.g. EMC Centera, HP RISS), allowing customers to transparently integrate an archiving system into their existing file storage environment.
