Cisco System LocalDirector 400 Series is a high-availability, Internet scalability solution that intelligently load balances TCP/IP traffic across multiple servers. Servers can be automatically and transparently placed in or out of service, and Local Director itself is equipped with a hot standby failover mechanism

Cisco LocalDirector tracks network sessions and server load conditions in real time, directing each session to the most appropriate server. All physical servers appear as one virtual server, requiring only a single IP address and a single Universal Resource Locator (URL) for an entire server farm.
