Alteon Application Switches are built from the ground up with wire-speed Layer 2/3 switching and high-performance Layer 4-7 intelligent traffic management to optimize data networks for business application performance.

• Provides wire-speed Layer 2/3 Ethernet switching and high-performance Layer 4-7 switching (e.g., TCP ports, URLs, HTTP headers and cookies, SSL session ID)
• Supports the broadest range of special-purpose services including load balancing and health checking of servers, VPNs, intrusion detection, LDAP, DNS, streaming media (RTSP), WAP, Web Services
• Performs various multi-layer security features including comprehensive Denial of Service protection, security device load balancing (IDS, VPN, FW) and packet filtering (up to 2,048 filtering rules)
