Skill Profiles
- Unix Administrator
A UNIX Administrator would be expected to be able to deliver all your day-to-day system administration tasks. Aside from keeping your systems running and conducting preventative maintenance, these would additionally include the commissioning of hardware and installation, initial set up and limited re-configuration of most software. - Advanced Unix Administrator
In addition to the above, an Advanced UNIX Administrator would be expected to be able to troubleshoot most system problems, recommend solutions, and perform complex configuration of software products including enterprise solutions (e.g. HA Clusters, E10000 etc.). - Firewall Consultant
In addition to the above, a Firewall Consultant will have had exposure to commercial Firewall-1 Administration, be able to communicate the key concepts and be capable of installing and configuring Firewall-1 with a basic security policy. Knowledge of logs, alerts and UNIX security risks can also be assumed. - Advanced Firewall Consultant
An Advanced Firewall Consultant will have played a major role in a recent and successful Firewall-1 implementation. They will have a deeper understanding of the specific product, associated areas and network security in general. - Cluster Administrator
A Cluster Administrator will be capable of performing Solaris systems administration across the range of Sun systems including High Availability Cluster configurations. They will be able to perform standard create/start/stop/switch logical host operations and be able to troubleshoot the symptoms and recovery process for potential Sun Cluster failures. - Advanced Cluster Administrator
An Advanced Cluster Administrator will have played a major role in a recent and successful Sun HA Cluster implementation. They will have deeper knowledge of this specific and competitive products as well as understanding the associated issues involved with large system configuration and recovery.
