The Sun Fire B1600 Blade System Chassis is a 16 slot, 3U chassis offering integrated Gigabit Ethernet switch fabric, fully redundant components, and 5x server density over typical 1 processor 1U servers.

The Sun Fire B1600 Blade Platform consists of a 16 slot Intelligent Shelf, general-purpose blades, specialty blades, Sun StorEdge 3310 NAS, and the N1 Provisioning Server 3.0 Blades Edition.

For added flexibility, the B1600 Blade Platform offers mix, match and manage SPARC and x86 architectures and Solaris and Linux operating systems.

• 3U self-enclosed chassis
• Supports SPARC and x86 architectures as well as specialty networking such as the Sun Fire B10n Content Load Balancing Blade and the Sun Fire SSL Proxy Blade
• Supports up to two optionally-redundant System Controllers
• Supports up to two optionally-redundant, 24-port, Gigabit Ethernet switches
• Each chassis has 16 ports to and from internal blades, 8 copper Gigabit Ethernet ports to and from an external network or other shelves, and a 10-GB internal switch fabric
