Websense Enterprise resides at the gateway level for Internet filtering, at the network level for protocol management and bandwidth optimization, and on the desktop for management of software applications.

• Internet filtering uses pass-through filtering technology, with each request checked against the Websense EIM Database of more than 4 million sites to determine whether it should be allowed or denied. All requests and responses are then logged for reporting purposes
• All employee Internet requests and responses are logged for monitoring and reporting purposes
• Dynamic Protocol Management applies policies for use of media-rich protocols such as instant messaging, streaming sound and video
